Country music artist Keni Thomas was presented with the Special Operations Warrior Foundation's "Spirit of the Warrior Award" at the 2nd Annual Salute to Special Operations Forces Dinner, June 7, hosted by the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides free college scholarships to the surviving children of Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps special operations personnel killed in training or combat.

Country-Music Star Announces National Community-Building Tour
Country music artist Michael Peterson is launching the My Real Life -- Strong For America Tour -- a national tour that challenges students, civic and business leaders and other community members to engage in building their community through several free initiatives and programs. Peterson will invest a week in each city meeting with community and business leaders, presenting school assembly programs and performing a concert event. The Tour, which is presented by the U.S. Army, launches February 18, 2008 in Knoxville, TN.

Billboard author Ken Tucker predicts the rise of the independent country label to superstar status in the next two years.
